About Me
I operate as a sole proprietor based in El Cajon, CA offering Japanese to English business translation to agency and end clients worldwide. I have worked with the Japanese language for 19 years, starting in my junior year of college when I first began taking courses in Japanese. I was immediately attracted to the challenge and uniqueness of the language, and through diligent study was accepted to the graduate school of the Japanese university International Christian University on full academic scholarship. After completing coursework and writing my master’s thesis in Japanese, I was accepted for an internship in the press office of the US Embassy in Tokyo, where I began my translation work. I then worked for The Financial Times Tokyo Bureau, translating, interpreting and writing the daily equity markets column, after which I was hired as a translator and marketing writer at Nikko Asset Management, a major Japanese financial firm, where I gained unique insight and experience in the Japanese business world as one of a handful of foreigners in the company. I then returned to the States, and have worked as an independent translator since.
